On her big break with Roc-a-fella…
It was amazing. I was sixteen, coming from Detroit, I was SO green and I just remember feeling like a deer in headlights…this little girl in this big city and getting all my prayers answered and my dreams come true. I just remember everybody on that label being so kind and easy to work with. Jay was a mentor and father figure. Beyonce is very very nice, actually one of the nicest people I’ve ever met. So it was amazing and I think God put that whole time frame and situation in my life for a reason.

What did you learn from it?
Definitely at the end of the day I learned to be resilient. Coming from a big situation like that, anybody would want to go hide under a rock. I was signed to Roc-a-fella and got dropped. And being that I was so young girl and so green it would’ve been so easy to hide under a rock but I chose differently and chose to hold the rock under my head. And I’m here now. It takes time, it takes patience and all of that to succeed in this business.

On why she didn’t go independent…
I was at that point before I got to Warner Brothers where I was like ‘ok let’s just do it on our own’ but then I realized how hard it is and how much money it takes to do it on your own. Especially where I want to go and the horizons I want to reach, you really do need the machine behind you. So I rethought that, and Warner offered a deal, so I signed it.

On her new project with Rico Love…
I just signed to Division One with Rico and the project is called ‘You Did That’, and we’re getting a great response to it, so I’m excited…me and Rico we have a history…I always say we have this crazy chemistry doing music together. At the end of the day it’s about creating good music, it’s the music industry.

What’s the most frustrating thing about being an artist?I would say the bullshit you have to deal with. The politics, what you have to go through because talent is only a small part of it. Having talent doesn’t solidify that you’ll be successful in this business. I don’t want to throw anyone under the bus but like with Warner Bros, they hyped me up to sign and then not getting it. To me that’s BS. Why even sign me if you don’t believe in it? They just didn’t get me. And that’s fine. I don’t hold any bad blood with any of those people.

So what now?Well, now I get to do what I want to do. Now I get to create the type of music I wanted to create. I was doing what they wanted me to do because I wanted my record deal.

If you could form a super group, who would be in it?I’d have four members. Ciara, because of her energy and talent. Solange, because of her eclectic vibe. I’m gonna bring that urban, bounce. And I’m gonna have to go with my little sister Teyana Taylor.

If you could go back – knowing what you know now – to that sixteen year old fresh off the bus Teairra Mari, just signed to Roc-a-fella, and say one thing, what would you say?

(Sings) Don’t’ let it go to your head now. At sixteen it’s easy for things to go to your head. It’s easy to get caught up when people are bowing at your feet and kissing your ass. At sixteen years old, you don’t know how to handle that. So the only way I knew how to handle it was ‘hey I’m the shit’ but I realized quickly that you have to stay grounded so that’s what I would tell that little girl.

What do you want to be when you grow up: A singer/actress/philanthropist
The very last thing you want to do before you leave this Earth: I just want to hold a big seminar with 2 million unconfident young girls and just explain to them, their worth. And that nobody else matters, when you’re on your journey.

I have a girl crush on Lauren London. I don’t want nothing, it’s just a crush.

"We met through mutual friends a few years ago and we just clicked. I have a small circle of good friends and she’s a part. We are such opposites so it levels out. I can be a bit of a firecracker and she brings a bit of calmness."

"I would hope it has a positive impact. My fans hear my music and they know my personality. Whether you hate it or love it, hopefully you can respect it. I don’t know if being a reality star is what I want to do, but my friends and family tell me I am made for TV."

"From my true supporters, I haven’t gotten negative feedback. On all my songs, I’m like I am in real life. I’m feisty and I have potty-mouth. But I am who I am. But I was nervous when considering if I am making the right decision. But what do I have to lose? This could be an opportunity for me and hopefully God will let me receive it."

"I just signed a record deal with Rico Love. It’s really sexy bedroom music with a new jack swing. It’s the kind of music I wanted to do my whole career. I sing it and I mean it. Law enforcement sources tell TMZ the 23-year-old actress/singer was driving a silver Infiniti through Beverly Hills around 3:00 AM, when she rear-ended the car in front of her.
Police at the accident scene observed "signs of intoxication" from Teairra -- and arrested her for DUI. One person who was at the scene tells TMZ Teairra was "really messed up ... she couldn't even stand."
And it gets worse ... we're told Teairra didn't play nice while she was being booked and became "combative" with one of the arresting officers. Sources tell us one cop suffered a "minor cut" to his hand during the incident.
As a result, Mari now faces multiple charges -- including DUI and assault on a police.
According to law enforcement, Mari is still in custody and bail has been set at $50k.

Teairra Mari fans may finally get that sophmore album they’ve been waiting for. The R&B chanteuse has departed Warner Bros. Records and signed a new deal with Rico Love’s Division1 label. She made the official announcement on set of the video for “That’s All Me,” helmed by Rico.

“Teairra Mari is now part of the Division1 family. She is officially signed to Division1. We got the lights on all over the world,” said the music maestro, who’s written hits for Beyoncé, Kelly Rowland, and Diddy.

Teairra released the EP Sincerely Yours last year on Warner Bros. and was previously signed to Roc-A-Fella Records.

The R&B songstress, whose coquettish vocals sound loudly on 'Ride,' a single featured on her 2010 album, 'Basic Instinct,' is taking her brand of merriment to cities across the U.S. as part of the Station Invasion Concert tour, presented by Radio Maliboom Boom.

She kicked off the event Saturday (July 16) in Miami, where she's decided to unwind for a few days. "We're gonna jet ski-it up, have fun on the beach, lay back and lay in the sun and just have a really fun, girls time," she tells the BoomBox. While her fans and critics may be getting impatient, waiting on a new song to hit the airwaves, the Atlanta native promises she has a wealth of "things" to share when the time is right. Like any global force, the dance machine that she is deserves some time off occasionally.

Your verse on Usher's 'Hot Tottie' recently released but we haven't heard a lot of new music from you. Who have you been in the studio with recently?

Well, you know what, I'll just say this: I've been vibing and really having a fun time by getting to see what's out there. I just have to say that I'm so excited about the things that are happening. There's a lot of fun stuff going on. Sooner or later I really will be able to tell my fans exactly what is happening. I know a lot of times I speak to my fans [via Twitter] like, "Today was so great," or "Oh my god, I can't believe this is happening right now." There's things I've been saying so I can't wait to share those things with my fans.

I do want team Ciara to know and all of my fans to know that things have been really exciting and I can't wait to let them know more. I'm really liking the vibe of where I'm going with things.

There are reports that L.A. Reid joined Epic Label Group and that you were going to be an artist under his roster. Can you confirm that?

I don't even know what you're talking about [laughs]. Nah, I'm totally just playing. I think you have to ask L.A. kinda what's going on. I can't really comment on what's happening and the system. I cant really say too much. I dont really know too much about the breakdown of everything.

The Malibu tour you're currently on brings you back to the states to perform, considering you were doing overseas shows a lot. Where have you traveled to recently that you're fond of?

My most fun and one that I really remember is Angola. The energy from the fans is just so amazing. In the middle of the set they would stop and say, "Ciara! Ciara!" They would start to chant my name, even before I started to get into a new record. Even just being in Africa, in general, they would say, "We want more! We want more!" To feel that energy is so amazing. Their faces were so beautiful, their smiles were so pure. It was one of the best energetic crowds I've ever been in front of and one of the most memorable crowds.

When you perform, what song do you feel grabs the most attention?

'1, 2 Step.' And oh, 'Ride,' of course. It's always amazing for me to see my fans in Africa singing 'Ride,' because it's a slow record. Normally, dance records are easier to digest, universally. 'Ride' has a very aggressive sound and it has a heavy, urban melody. It's just amazing to see fans of all races, in particularl in Africa -- that live there and are from there -- sing 'Ride.' Of course, I have more records to do, but '1, 2 Step' goes down as one of my biggest songs. What's crazy is that 'Goodies' sat at No. 1 longer then '1, 2 Step' did. It just seems to be one that when I do it, every time, people go crazy.

Recently you've been in the news for attending the wedding of your friend, R&B singer Monica. Another friend of yours, Kim Kardashian, is set to wed as well. How do you feel at this point in your life being 25 and possibly taking a similar step soon?

Whenever you see any woman, in particularly your friends and family that are really close to you, get to have that moment in their lives, I get so excited for them. The way that I look at it, I come from a background of marriage. My grandparents were married for 51 years now, it is. My mother and father are going on 30 years, so that's something that's very traditional within my family. The way that I look at it, I'm so lost in the zone right now of what I'm doing that when that happens in my life, I believe that it'll happen at the perfect time. You can't put a time marker on anything like that and you can't say exactly when you want to do it; it just kinda falls in place. That's something I definitely look forward to because in my career, you do sacrifice a lot by just putting so much time and effort into it, but I do believe when that moment happens it's going to be amazing. I have a whole breakdown of how I see it. I'm not rushing the idea of it.

That part is so emotional, like I cried when I saw La [La] get married, and even when I saw Monica. I've known Monica for years, like she's my family to me. And of course, La La is my best, best friend so it's really cool. And then for Kim, it's always great to see a woman experience a moment like that in their lives.

Antonio “L.A.” Reid quietly began his new job as head of Epic Label Group earlier this month. The music mogul is assembling his roster of talent, which may include Ciara and Usher.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Ciara will reunite with her former boss at his new venture at Sony. She asked to be released from her contract with Jive earlier this year after the underwhelming performance of her latest album Basic Instinct.

Another one of Reid’s discoveries, Usher, may also be making the shift from Jive to the restructured Epic. Reid was instrumental in launching the R&B phenom’s career 17 years ago.

Singer Ciara is set for her big screen debut in the film I Hate You Dad which stars powerhouse comedian Adam Sandler. The film is about a dad(Adam Sandler) who moves in with his son before he gets married. It is not been said what Ciara's role in the film will be just yet. Ciara herself hasn't even confirmed via twitter yet that she will indeed be in the film but today a couple of people & actors on set announced Ciara as a role in the film:

This is defantly a good look for Ciara. She has been on twitter dropping hints that she is doing something very big & she would announce it very soon & this is most likely the announcement. I Hate You Dad also stars Leighton Meester, Vanilla Ice, Andy Samberg, Todd Bridges & More. The film is expected to hit theaters June 2012. This will be Ciara's 3rd film but 1st Theatrical release & big budget
